REKONSTRUKSI SAINS ILMIAH DARI SAINS MASYARAKAT SUKU BOTI DALAM PEMBUATAN KAIN TENUN MOTIF SOTIS
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi pengetahuan ilmiah dalam pembuatan kain motif sotis suku Boti di Pulau Timor. Metode penelitian digunakan metode analisis literature review. Sumber data primer digunakan dokumentasi film budaya. Sedangkan, data sekunder diperoleh melalui buku dan jurnal yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan ilmiah yang mendasari proses pembuatan kain tenun motif sotis suku Boti meliputi tahap: memetik kapas, memisahkan biji kapas menggunakan alat yang disebut bninis, mengurai serat kapas (sifo), membentuk benang dari serat kapas (tasun), dan proses pewarnaan benang. Pada setiap tahap, teridentifikasi konsep kimia, fisika, biologi yaitu konsep pemisahan bahan padat dengan prinsip gaya sentripetal, momentum sudut, elastisitas, absorbsi dan difusi, energi mekanik dalam getaran, dan klasifikasi tumbuhan. Budaya lokal suku Boti ini dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran IPA SMA pada materi gerak rotasi, fluida, dan getaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disarankan penelitian lanjutan pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran terintegrasi budaya lokal suku Boti dan diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran.
