Abstract

This research aims to develop 3D digital learning media on cell structure materials based on the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML) and determine its validity and practicality. The research employed a research and development method. The media was developed by applying eight CTML principles: contiguity, coherence, signaling, segmenting, pre-training, modality, multimedia, and personalization. Validation was conducted by material and media experts, while practicality was assessed by students. The results showed that the developed media received high ratings from experts in terms of material, visualization, and learning presentation. The practicality test yielded a percentage of 88.88%, with pre-training and modality obtaining the highest percentages at 90% each. The application of CTML principles supports the presentation of cell structure materials through an integrated combination of 3D visualization, text, and narration. These findings indicate that the developed media is feasible and practical for supporting cell structure learning. Therefore, CTML-based 3D digital learning media can be used as an alternative learning medium for cell structure materials.
