Abstract

21st century science education demands the integration of critical thinking skills and environmental awareness, but the availability of contextual practicum media to support this is still limited. This study aims to analyze trends, patterns, and gaps in the latest literature (2020–2025) regarding the development of STEM-based practicum kits and local wisdom on renewable energy materials. Using  the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA protocol and VOSviewer bibliometric analysis on the Scopus database, this study selected and synthesized 13 main articles. The results of the analysis show the dominance of the development of digital modules compared to physical kits, as well as the saturation of research on the cognitive aspect (critical thinking) which contrasts with the scarcity of studies on the aspect of environmental awareness. Network visualization confirms that the topic of environmental education is still marginal and not yet firmly integrated with mainstream STEM approaches. It is concluded that there is a research gap of high novelty value to develop a holistic practicum instrument that targets the simultaneous improvement of scientific logic and ecological character, providing a strong foundation for culturally relevant renewable energy learning innovations.
