Error Analysis on the Use of Simple Present Tense Verbs in Writing Procedure Texts by Grade X Students of SMK Nusantara Wisata Respati West Jakarta

Abstract


The objective of this research is to analyze the types of errors in the use of the simple present tense in writing procedure texts. The research method used is a qualitative method, conducted by analyzing procedure texts based on the categories of Addition, Omission, Misformation, and Misordering. The results of this study found a total of 118 errors, with the highest frequency found in misformation errors, totaling 45 (38.14%). The next most common errors were omission errors, totaling 41 (34.75%), followed by misordering errors at 23 (19.49%), and the least common were addition errors, totaling 9 (7.63%). Based on this data, it can be concluded that misformation errors were the most frequently made by students. After analyzing and classifying the errors made by students in their procedure texts, the writer concludes that the students' ability to use simple present tense verbs still shows a high number of misformation error.
